Ingredients

  • Simple sugar syrup, for garnish
  • Semisweet chocolate shavings, for garnish
  • 1 cup (280 g) crushed ice
  • 1 1/2 ounces (45 ml) cold espresso or strong coffee
  • 1/2 ounce (15 ml) vanilla-flavored syrup
  • 1 1/2 ounces (45 ml) premium vodka
  • 1 ounce (30 ml) half-and–half

  • Method

    1. Dip the rim of a martini glass into a small, flat dish of simple sugar syrup.
    2. Then dip the rim into a plate of chocolate shavings, coating well. Now you have a chocolate-rimmed glass. Chill.
    3. Fill a martini shaker with the ice.
    4. Add the espresso, syrup, vodka, and half-and-half to the shaker, and shake vigorously for 15 seconds.
    5. Strain into the chilled, chocolate-rimmed martini glass.
    6. Garnish with chocolate shavings.
