Ingredients

  • 2 cups (500 ml) milk
  • 4 ounces (113 ml) chocolate syrup
  • 4 ounces (113 ml) hot, fresh espresso or strong coffee
  • 1–2 oranges, quartered and seeded (grate rinds lightly before slicing the oranges, to obtain grated peel)
  • A pinch of ground cinnamon, plus extra for garnish
  • A pinch of grated orange peel, for garnish

  • Method

    1. Pour the milk, then the syrup, into a frothing jug. Froth with a steam wand until the mixture is well blended into a hot chocolate froth.
    2. Pour the espresso into two 12–ounce (340 ml) mugs.
    3. Squeeze the juice from the orange wedges into the mugs. Discard the squeezed rinds.
    4. Stir a pinch of cinnamon into each mug.
    5. Pour the hot chocolate froth into the mugs.
    6. Garnish with a dusting of cinnamon, and sprinkle lightly with grated orange peel.
