Ingredients
- 1/4–1/2 ounce (7–15 ml) amaretto or almond-flavored syrup
- 2–4 ounces (60–113 ml) hot, fresh espresso or strong coffee
- 1/2–1 ounce (15–30 ml) sambuca (optional)
- Whipped cream, for garnish
- Pour the amaretto into a tempered glass mug.
- Add the espresso and the sambuca.
- Top with a dollop of whipped cream.
- Sambucca, grappa, and brandy are popular additions to coffee in Italy: When a shot of liquor or liqueur is poured into a cup of coffee, the Italians call this caffe corretto, or “corrected coffee”—which is funny, because Italian coffee rarely needs correction!
