Ingredients
- 1 ounce (30 ml) cognac
- 1 teaspoon (3 g) sugar
- 2 ounces (60 ml) hot, fresh espresso or strong coffee
- 1/2 cup (125 ml) prepared hot chocolate
- 4 ounces (113 ml) milk or light cream
- Grated chocolate, for garnish
- In a small saucepan, stir together the cognac, sugar, espresso, and hot chocolate.
- Heat gently over a low flame. Do not allow to boil.
- Froth the milk until doubled in volume.
- Pour the espresso mixture into two tempered cognac glasses or latte mugs.
- Dollop the frothed milk over the espresso.
- Sprinkle grated chocolate on top.
- The cognac may be replaced with a syrup of choice for a nonalcoholic beverage.
