Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 ounces (45 ml) premium whiskey or rye
  • 2 1/2 teaspoons (8.25 ml) real maple syrup
  • 3/4 cup (176 ml) hot, fresh espresso or strong coffee
  • 1/4 cup (30 ml) whipping cream (unwhipped), for garnish
  • 1 candy cane, for garnish

  • Method

    1. Combine the whiskey and 11/2 teaspoons (7 ml) of the maple syrup in a heated mug or cup.
    2. Fill the rest of the way with the coffee.
    3. In a small bowl, combine the whipping cream with the remaining 1 teaspoon (1.25 ml) maple syrup, and whip until soft peaks form.
    4. Spoon the flavored whipped cream on top of the coffee mixture.
    5. Top with the candy cane!
