Ingredients

  • Simple sugar syrup, for garnish
  • Sugar, for garnish
  • 1 1/2 ounces (45 ml) dark rum
  • 1 1/2 ounces (45 ml) coffee-flavored liqueur
  • 3–4 ounces (90–113 ml) cold espresso or strong coffee
  • 8 ice cubes
  • 2 ounces (60 ml) half-and-half or coconut milk, for garnish

  • Method

    1. Dip the rim of a chilled martini glass into a small, flat dish of simple sugar syrup.
    2. Then quickly dip it into a plate of sugar, coating well.
    3. Shake the rum, liqueur, espresso, and ice in a martini shaker.
    4. Strain into the sugar-rimmed glass.
    5. Top off with a splash of half-and-half.
